Reno Pic of the Day

Well, today's pic is what we're calling our Reno Stress of the Day. Holy cow are fridges ever deep! We certainly weren't expecting this to stick out so much. We went right down to the store and evaluated all the fridges, measuring tape in hand, and almost all of them are this depth! The one that is a bit thinner is instead too tall. We're stumped looking at options and possibilities. And looking around online apparently many people go through this challenge. It seems that the best solution out there is to use that black space on the side for a magnetic notepad grocery list. Could happen.

Hmmm... if lots of people have this problem... why don't they make fridges that fit a smaller kitchen? Weird.

I'll be on the lookout for groovy fridge magnets to send you - here's your creative challenge - What WILL you use that lovely strange space for?

Holy cow! That's the fridge of my dreams! And of my logistical nightmare. Wow Jamie, that is quite the challenge. It looks gorgeous though and I can see you decorating and using that black space well. You are a creative genius, you'll do something brilliant there! Magnet poetry perhaps?

Having built a home, I can say the only way around it is to build a deep recessed wall if you want it flush mounted. The other thing that the kitchen installer did was put up a board 'wall' like you have next to the mini cab now, but deeper so that the fridge looked flush and the kitchen looked more finished.

I think it's just shocking your eyes because it isn't what you expected. A bump in the reno road. To any and all who come to see it, it'll be fab. More so because they're coming to share you light and space, not so much the kitchen...

Oh, my gosh, you guys are all making me feel so much better!

Unfortunately we can't recess it because we're in a semi and that would take us into our neighbour's!

It really helps to know that this doesn't strike everyone as crazy horrible. When I look at it, I think of teenage guys who wear their pants low and their undies show. The black is fridge undies!

Magnets may make all the difference! Though Justin says there has to be some cars and rockets or something not just poetry ;)

Jamie, this is cracking me up so much! In Denmark our fridge AND freezer are the size of the top half of your fridge, if it was flush with the cupboards and not so deep. Kitchen culture shock! Lol!

Hugs for you and kisses for your new fridge! Who knows...that extra side space might be a nice place for you and Justin to tuck love notes too. ;)

I love seeing your vision come to life. It is intensely inspiring to me. Even if the fridge offers more room for abundance than you anticipated! ;)

love you,
j.
